General Policy

Introduction

The Internet has revolutionized the computer and communications world like nothing before. The invention of the telegraph, telephone, radio, and computer set the stage for this unprecedented integration of capabilities. The Internet is at once a world-wide broadcasting capability, a mechanism for information dissemination, and a medium for collaboration and interaction between individuals and their computers without regard for geographic location.
General

1. ASIS Toronto Chapter 193 is a non-profit organization belonging to ASIS International and is monitored by the Policies and Procedures of this organization.

Purpose

1. This policy is specific to the Forum Message Boards located at www.asistoronto.freeforums.org
2. The purpose of this policy is to inform the reader of policies specific to www.asistoronto.freeforums.org and includes the Terms of Service as provided by www.freeforums.org located here http://www.freeforums.org/tos.php as a condition to receiving the services.

Scope and Application of this Policy

1. This policy applies to members of ASIS International, members of the ASIS Toronto Chapter 193, and visitors.

Exclusions from this Policy

1. There are no exclusions from this policy. The terms of this policy can be modified at any time by the ASIS Toronto Chapter Executive as deemed necessary or required.

Policy

1. The forum has been designed to provide an open architecture for information exchange and communications between the ASIS Toronto Chapter 193 membership that includes Executive, Committee’s, Sub-Committee’s, Members and Visitors.

Registration – User Name

1. Members are encouraged to use either their full name ex: John Doe; Jane Doe or a naming contention similar to email ex: johndoe, jdoe, or janedoe as a user name.
2. Use of a corporate entity as a name is forbidden ex: ABC Company
3. Use of nicknames or monikers is forbidden ex: No1LeafsFan; HabsFan and the like.

Internal Message System

1. The forum incorporates an internal messaging system similar to email specific to the forums. This facilitates private messages between members of the forums.
2. The internal messaging system is not to be used by any member for the solicitations of services or advertising for services unless specifically asked for by a member.
3. The private messaging of objectionable materials ex: pornography is strictly forbidden and against the TOS for www.freeforums.org

Forum Postings

1. Members should endeavor to post in the appropriate forum areas on topics that are relevant to ASIS International, ASIS Toronto Chapter 193 and its activities, as well as posts/topics pertaining to the realm of the security industry and profession.
2. Advertising of a corporate entity is not allowed and is reserved specifically, controlled and maintained for current sponsors of the ASIS Toronto Chapter 193.
3. Advertising for employment opportunities is not permitted in the forums. The employment opportunities is a service provided on the ASIS Toronto Chapter website www.asistoronto.org
4. Attachments such as documents are supported within a posting but should be specific to the topic of the posting.
5. Posting in the forums is an excellent way to communicate and it must be understood that at times there will be a difference of viewpoint or opinion on a specific subject or topic at times. Refrain from vulgarity or flame type responses that are common in forums on the Internet.
6. The Forum in its entirety is Moderated by the Webmaster and Forum Administrator as well as select Executive and Committee members. This creates a self-policing environment that encourages open discussion but with responsibility placed on the poster.
